We know how important it is to have breakfast for a good start to the day, yet we too often leave this healthy habit to chance, grabbing something “on the go” from a nearby bakery or shop because we don’t have the time or inclination to eat at home. But there’s no more excuse – here at Fotić we can at least pause the hectic pace for a moment and enjoy an omelet, baked or poached eggs, freshly baked homemade bread, a pastry, and a glass of freshly squeezed juice, coffee, tea, or cocoa – just like at home.
Then, of course, come the other meals – lunch, dinner, or a light snack. The proximity to Dolac Market allows our chefs to showcase their full imagination and creativity by using only fresh ingredients. The menu is based on both traditional and international cuisine, with an emphasis on seasonal dishes, and it also features a wide selection of pizzas, including those made with wholegrain flour, as well as a vegetarian menu.
At first glance, the food offering might seem extensive, but only superficially… because our kitchen is actually based on four types of meat, a wide variety of vegetables, and homemade, hand-crafted pasta.
We deliberately chose not to pigeonhole our kitchen as “Mexican,” “Italian,” or any other specific cuisine, because we do not want to be tied to just one culinary tradition. Instead, the intention is to create as wide a range of diverse dishes as possible for every taste using a relatively narrow selection of daily fresh ingredients. That’s why most of our “daily ready” dishes are prepared only when a guest orders them – for example, various medallions in fine sauces, meat combined with vegetables in various ways, fish with vegetables baked en papillote, and so on.
Soups are prepared daily and often run out because we are not proponents of preserved or frozen foods, which are available everywhere.
The menu and daily specials change depending on what’s available at the market as well as on the wishes, recommendations, and suggestions of our guests.
We have complemented our daily food offering with homemade bread that we bake ourselves, along with fine pastries and cakes made according to selected recipes, using exclusively natural ingredients such as butter, sweet cream, curd cheese, mascarpone, genuine chestnuts, etc.
